The Global Academic Commons (GAC)
Mr. Stefan Bauchard
The founder of the GAC, has been involved in academic debating for 30 years and has led the development of debating teams and workshops in China, the Dominican Republic, Japan, Morocco, and South Korea.
Dr. Anand Rao
Co-founder of GAC, has more than twenty-five years of experience with speech and debate, including twenty years as a college instructor. Anand has worked to build a number of nationally recognized programs with cutting edge curricula. He holds a PhD in communication, rhetoric, and argumentation, from the University of Pittsburgh, and has coached speech and debate on both the high school and college level.
Ms Leandra López
Was previously the Debate Coach at Ransom Everglades in Miami, FL. In 2015, her team reach the octofinals (top 16 out of 300) in the Harvard debate tournament. She is also the treasurer for the Gables Hispanic Cultural Foundation in Miami, Florida. Leandra will be providing instruction in Spanish.
Mr. Patrick Waldinger
Assistant Director of Debate and a Lecturer in the School of Communication at the University of Miami (UM). Prior to joining the faculty at UM in 2013, Patrick served as the Debate Coach and Lecturer in Communication at Boston College for 8 years. His debate teams have had great success over the years, including the 2013 & 2014 Novice Champions at the Georgia State University Tournament and Novice Finalists at the 2014 American Debate Association (ADA) National Tournament. As a debater, Patrick won several tournaments including the 2003 Varsity ADA National Championship hosted at Boston College and was a two-time qualifier to the NDT.
