REFRESHING LECTURE:
“EMPOWERING STUDENTS
THROUGH
ARGUMENTS CHALLENGES”
Wednesdays, August 13th
at 10:30 am
This activity is for
School and Academic Heads

The effective school administrator should be driven by continuous improvement in two key areas: student achievement and school climate.
Participating in debate and speech events empowers students to break the fourth wall to connect with the audience in an authentic effort to understand the world and the society in which they live. By its nature, forensics promotes curiosity and advocacy through the power of words to question assumptions, examine issues, and introduce solutions.
Studies have shown that students who participate in competitive speech and debate activities are more likely to have higher academic achievement and an overall better educational experience. Through the process of developing an argument, crafting a speech, students become better thinkers, writers, and communicators.
Education leaders know that institutional achievement is a product of a school’s climate. There is no better way to improve school climate than empowering students through speech and debate. They learn to listen actively and articulate their ideas thoughtfully, which encourages empathy. The Debate and Speech Team can inspire a more intellectually engaged student body, promoting a positive atmosphere where diverse perspectives are valued.
